Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Fastest Gaming CPU, Hits Lowest-Ever Price
This hasn’t been the best Prime Day ever for CPU deals so far, but if you want the fastest gaming processor that money can buy, you’re in luck. AMD’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D is just $349 (with coupon) at Newegg. This processor normally goes for around $449.
The Ryzen 7000 series CPU has an astounding 96MB of L3 cache, which enables to provide a ton of performance, particularly at 1080p and 1440p resolution gaming. It has 8 cores and 16 threads to go with a boost clock of 5 GHz.
When we reviewed the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, we noted that processor delivered an even-higher average FPS than even the more-expensive, Ryzen 9 7950X3D. On our Windows 11 tests, the 7800X3D averaged 224 fps versus 222 for the 7950X3D and just 200 fps for the Core i9-13900K.
The reason that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is able to outperform even its more expensive siblings is that it has a single CCD (core complex die) for all of its 8 cores, allowing it to concentrate all of its power and performance on one die. If you’re looking for the best possible gaming performance, it’s hard to pass this deal up.
Retro Game in Style With This Raspberry Pi 4 SNES Case
Nintendo’s Super Famicom console blew our minds in the 1990s (we were lucky to have an SNES and a Genesis) with its mode 7 graphics, great game library and beautiful case design.
You could go out and buy an official Super Nintendo with 20ish games, or you can make your own with the help of a Raspberry Pi 4 and this awesome Retroflag SuperPi case. Which is a steal at $19!
This case is designed for the Raspberry Pi 4 only and features a clever breakout board which provides access to the ports and the all important power button. Ports are disguised to ensure that we retain the illusion that this is a real SNES. In fact this case is roughly a quarter of the size of an original console, and with the power of the Raspberry Pi 4 it can emulate many more consoles. We’ve successfully emulated up to N64 on the Raspberry Pi 4. But the new Raspberry Pi 5 is capable of GameCube, Wii and Switch emulation, but you will need a new case as this one is only for the Raspberry Pi 4.
Match this up with an 8Bitdo SNES Bluetooth controller and you will be the envy of every 1990s gamer.
Alienware’s Five-Star QD-OLED Gaming Monitor Drops to All-Time Low of $799
When we tested Alienware’s stunning AW3423DWF QD-OLED ultra-wide gaming monitor last year, we awarded it five stars and dropped it onto our Best Gaming Monitors page, for its deep contrast and color saturation, voluminous color gamut capabilities, and smooth motion processing. There were no downsides, save perhaps for the $1,100 asking price. But now Dell has slashed that to $799. That still makes for an expensive monitor, but your eyeballs will love you for splurging on this beautiful screen.
The Alienware AW3423DWF is heavy on high-end specs. It’s a 3440×1440 panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of peak brightness in HDR mode. It also sports the premium build quality you’d expect for a flagship-class monitor, plus an 1800 curve radius to increase immersion.
But really, the quantum dot OLED technology brings most of the wow factor here, delivering all the rich colors and deepest blacks of traditional OLED panels, with a level of brightness that just wasn’t available with OLED until the QD tech was applied. The result had our veteran monitor reviewer Christian Eberly proclaiming “Unless you need even more speed, it’s hard to imagine a better gaming monitor.”
Now thanks to this latest sale price from Dell, you can add some monitor perfection to your very own desk, for $300 less than its launch price, and $50 less than its lowest-ever previous price.
RTX 3060 Ti Deal Offers Great 1080p Gaming for Epic Price
Often, you’ll find the best GPU deals on cards that are from the last generation. This Prime Big Deals Day, we’re seeing an incredible deal on an RTX 3060 Ti card that’s perfect for 1080p gaming, both with and without ray tracing enabled.
Now, once you check the button to apply a coupon, you can get the Asus Dual Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti White OC edition for just $320, the lowest price we’ve seen on this particular card and one of the lowest ever on an RTX 3060 Ti of any brand.
The RTX 3060 Ti sits several places above the newer, RTX 4060 on our GPU hierarchy. On our 1080p benchmark suite, it averaged 92.3 fps at Ultra settings as compared to 84.9 fps for the RTX 4060 and 86.2 fps for the Radeon RX 6700. It even delivered a solid 71 fps at 1440p.
When we turned ray tracing on, the 1080p ultra fps average was a very-playable 46.2 fps. That beats the RTX 4060 (41.7 fps) and the Radeon RX 6700 41.2 fps. You won’t find many better deals for 1080p gaming today.
This 27-Inch, 1440p, 170Hz MSI Monitor Just Hit an All-Time Low Price ($180)
If you’re still gaming on a 24-inch, 1080p screen and you’ve been craving something bigger, with more pixels and a faster refresh rate, MSI’s G273CQ curved gaming monitor just hit an all-time low of $179.99. That’s $40 off the $220 that the monitor has been mostly selling for since August, and $70 off its MSRP.
We haven’t tested MSI’s G273CQ, but we have tested several of the company’s displays since MSI jumped in the monitor game a few years ago, and found its offerings generally competent and well-built. This model sports an IPS panel (ignore the VA in the product title, MSI’s specs say IPS) with a claimed 1ms response time, and its refresh can be cranked all the way up to 170Hz.
It also sports a fairly shallow 1500R curve for some extra immersion, and is rated to 3000 nits of brightness. The monitor also has a VESA mount for those who prefer arms over stands, and has two HDMI and one DisplayPort for connectivity.
Sure, there are higher-specced (and much higher-priced) monitors on the market if cost isn’t much of an issue. But for less than $200, this 27-inch VRR screen from MSI looks like a sweet deal. If you’re getting tired of your small, slow monitor and don’t want to spend a lot to replace it, you might want to jump on this Amazon deal.
Put This $16 Headphone Hook and USB Charger Under Your Desk Already
Do-it-all devices that pull together disparate features often turn out to be junk. But it’s hard to discount a $16 device that combines an under-the-desk headset hanger / cable holder and a three-port USB charging hub. That’s what Cozoo’s “Headphone Stand with USB Charger Under Desk Headset Holder Mount” delivers, and it’s currently “52% off” on Amazon (actually about $7 cheaper than the price it often sells for).
Sure, we’ve only ever heard of this brand in the context of these circuitry-included headphone holders, but the company makes several models (and many of them are currently on sale).
Similar headphone hangers alone usually cost more than $12, so there’s a lot of potentially useful and convenient extra functionality here for an extra few bucks. And if you’re after something similar with USB-C charging ports (and power plugs), this model from Junnuj is also on sale for $20.
SK hynix’s Excellent Platinum P41 2TB SSD Hits New Low Price ($105) on Amazon
SSD prices look like they’re heading back up as the year winds down, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still find a great deal on a stellar drive. SK hynix’s PCIe 4.0 Platinum P41 2TB just hit a new all-time low price of $104.99 on Amazon. I bought this drive back in January for $45 more than its current price. And it’s served me well ever since. Now at this price, I’m considering picking up a second one before storage deals like this became a thing of the past.
When we reviewed the Platinum P41 SSD, we found it to be “the best consumer PCIe 4.0 SSD we’ve tested to date,” thanks to its class-leading performance and power efficiency. So this would be a great speedy choice, whether you plan on installing it in a laptop, a desktop, or a PS5. In fact, this drive is our runner-up pick for best PS5 SSD! Just be sure if you’re attempting the latter to bring a heatsink, as this drive doesn’t come with one.
You do, though, get the company’s 176-layer TLC flash, which is rated to an impressive 7,000 MBps reads and 6,500 MBps writes, and 1200TBW of endurance, along with a 5-year warranty.
As you can see, in our testing the Platinum P41 beat all competition when writing our 50GB folder. It wasn’t quite the fastest in the read portion of that test, but was effectively tied for second place. This is one extremely speedy drive, both in our benchmark testing and real-world use. In the eight months or so that I’ve been using it as my boot drive, it’s always felt lightning quick.
If you’re after a speedy, efficient PCIe 4.0 drive, the 2TB Platinum P41 is a steal at $104 — and you may not be able to SSD deals like this for much longer, because memory demand is picking up, and after years of reduced demand, companies have reportedlycut production.
HP’s Attractive Victus 15 Budget Gaming Laptop Is Just $599 ($300 Off)
If you’re after a new gaming laptop and don’t have much to spend, HP’s Victus is worth considering, especially at its current $599 price during Best Buy’s two-day Flash Sale. Any gaming rig below $1,000 is usually a study in compromises, but the Victus 15 has surprisingly few obvious failings.
The laptop’s primary gaming limitation is going to be its RTX 3050 GPU. It’s certainly no powerhouse, it should handle modern AAA games just fine, so long as you stick to mostly medium settings. And if you drop the resolution below the panel’s native 1080p, you’ll get higher frame rates to take better advantage of the laptop’s speedy 144Hz refresh rate.
With a current-gen Core i5-13420H CPU. 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, there is a decent amount of storage for games, and enough processing power to make sure you’re getting the most out of your graphics silicon.
When we last reviewed HP’s Victus 15 last year, we mostly liked it, citing its strong entry-level gaming and productivity performance. And that model sported an older CPU and lesser GTX 1650 graphics. With newer, more powerful silicon under the hood, this HP Victus is a sweet deal on an affordable gaming portable.
The Victus 15 is also nicely understated for a gaming laptop, with a dark blue chassis, white keyboard backlighting and a chrome V on its lid. If you’re after a laptop that won’t look awkward in the classroom or the office while still letting you game on your downtime, HP’s Victus 15 is an affordable option that cuts surprisingly few corners.
