After revealing multiple teasers, BMW has finally revealed the second generation X2. The 2024 BMW X2 is scheduled to be launched in the American market by March next year. The new model comes with a fresh styling, two engine options and a range of advanced tech features. The crossover will officially make its public debut at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, which starts on October 26, 2023.
The 2024 BMW X2 comes with a floating roofline that gives it a coupe-like silhouette. The crossover features an upright front end, featuring prominent LED headlights and an almost hexagonal BMW kidney grille. BMW is also offering Adaptive LED headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam as an optional. The crossover has prominent flared wheel arches & muscular shoulders, horizontally placed tail-lights, and a stylish spoiler.
The 2024 BMW X2 crossover comes with M-specific design features such as the two pairs of exhaust tailpipes integrated into the rear apron. The crossover is also available with the M Sport package Pro as an optional, which adds extended M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, M lights Shadowline, an M rear spoiler and an M Sport braking system with red-painted callipers and others.
The new X2 measures 4,554mm in length, 1,845mm in width and 1,590mm in height, which makes it 194mm longer, 21mm wider and 64mmm taller than the previous model. The wheelbase has been increased by good 23mm, which improves the interior space and the boot. The new X2 has a boot space of 560-litres, which can be extended up to 1,470-litres by folding the rear seats. BMW is offering two solid and eleven metallic paint finishes for the exterior of their new X2, including the new Fire Red metallic variant. Two Frozen shades from BMW Individual and a broad spectrum of BMW Individual special paint finishes are also available.
Inside the cabin, BMW has improved the touch and voice control through the BMW Curved Display & BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, powered by the new BMW iDrive 9. The curved center display comprises of a 10.25-inch instrument console and a 10.7-inch infotainment system. It comes with new seats, which are offered in the Veganza perforated variant and Vernasca leather. The crossover also has sport seats, electric seat adjustment with memory function, lumbar support and a massage function. Standard equipment now includes an interaction airbag between the driver’s seat and front passenger seat.
The new SUV gets dual-zone automatic climate control, a navigation system BMW Maps, and a Sport leather steering wheel as standard. The crossover gets automatic tailgate operation, four USB-C ports and a 12V power socket in both the centre console and the boot. As an optional, BMW is also offering features like a mirror package, a panoramic sunroof, steering wheel heating and the Harman Kardon Sound System. An electrically operated trailer tow hitch can also be ordered as an option.
The 2024 BMW X2 (xDrive28i) is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 241bhp and 400Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0 to 100kmph in just 6.2 seconds. The X2 M35i xDrive variant comes fitted with a 2.0-litre unit that produces 312bhp and 400Nm of torque. This variant achieves 0-100kmph acceleration in just 5.2 seconds. The powertrains are offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
