The Kacheguda – Yesvantpur Vande Bharat Express, designed to enhance travel between Hyderabad and Bengaluru for IT professionals, is facing extreme criticism due to its inconvenient timings.
Operating six days a week, this train covers a 610 km journey in 8.30 hours, posing a challenge for professionals who often need to take a day off from work to travel in it.
Currently, the Vande Bharat Express departs Kacheguda at 5:30 am, arriving at Yesvantpur junction by 2:00 pm, with several stops along the way, consuming a significant portion of the day.
The return journey follows a similar schedule, leaving Yesvantpur at 2:45 pm and reaching Kacheguda at 11:15 pm. To evade Bengaluru’s notorious traffic, travelers must leave by noon, resulting in a late-night arrival in Hyderabad, which is less than ideal for those residing in places like Kukatpally and Miyapur.
Initially envisioned as a game-changer for IT professionals commuting between the two cities, the Vande Bharat Express’s timing has become a significant hurdle.
In the realm of IT, where every moment matters, the promise of a quicker commute clashes with the reality of sacrificing a full workday for travel. Many techies opt for conventional trains that take 10-11 hours but offer more convenient timings and that too at a much lesser cost.
IT experts suggest adjusting the train’s schedule to arrive in Yesvantpur before noon, allowing for at least a half-day of work. Additionally, they propose a 4 PM departure from Yesvantpur for the return journey, catering to the needs of working techies.
