Renault has announced to reveal an all-new compact SUV, called the Kardian, on October 25, 2023. The company has also released some teaser images which gives us glimpses of the design and interior of the upcoming Renault Kardian. This compact SUV will first go on sale in Brazil before entering the other developing nations.
The new Renault Kardian compact SUV is based on the Dacia Sandero Stepway. It will be Renault’s smallest SUV in select international markets, as the Kiger is only available in India. The new sub-4 meter SUV will directly rival the Fiat Pulse, which is on sale in the South American markets. Built on the CMF-B platform, the new Kardian compact SUV will share body panels and powertrains with the Sandero Stepway. However, it will have an all-new front styling and more SUV-ish profile.
The Renault Kardian compact SUV’s front profile will sport split headlamp setup at the front with a signature double-layer grille. It comes with a black finished bumper with a faux brushed aluminum skidplate. The Kardian will come with a coupe-SUV like silhouette, a higher ground clearance and chunky cladding on the wheel arches. The rear features a C-shaped tail-lamps with styling inspired from the Kiger.
The interior teasers reveal that the Renault Kardian compact SUV features a stylish dashboard layout, which is inspired from bigger Renault SUVs. It features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 4-spoke steering wheel, a faux brushed aluminum & wood inserts, and a drive mode selector.
The Renault Kardian will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. It is early to comment whether this engine is the same that powers the Kiger and Magnite in India. The new Kardian compact SUV will be positioned below the second-gen Duster. Renault is also working on the third-gen Dusterwhich will be based on the CMF-B modular platform. The third-gen Duster will also go on sale in our market by 2025.
