Over one million people in Gaza have been displaced as Israel prepares for ground assault after unprecedented attacked launced by Palestine’s Hamas group. Israeli troops now wait for a political go-ahead to launch ground invasion.

Israel was caught off-guard by Hamas last weekend as the group attacked its civilians. Israel in response has also launched airstrikes on the Hamas-controlled Gaza stripped and stopped food and electricity supply to the region.

Amid the Israel-Hamas war, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has reportedly said that Hamas group’s actions “do not represent Palestinian people”, according to news agency Reuters.

Israel Evacuating Communities Along Lebanon Border

The Israeli army said Monday it was evacuating residents living along its northern frontier with Lebanon amid rising tensions there 10 days into its war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The army noted in a statement “the implementation of a plan to evacuate residents of northern Israel who live in the area up to two kilometres from the Lebanese border to state-funded guesthouses”.

China Summit Under Shadow Of Israel-Hamas War

China prepared on Monday to host representatives of 130 countries for a forum that will be overshadowed by the Israel-Gaza war, as an increasingly assertive Beijing is asked to help de-escalate the violence.

At the top of the invite list to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) forum is Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, on his first trip to a major global power since the Ukraine invasion threw his regime into international isolation.
