While Surya had sustained a blow to his right wrist, Kishan was stung by a honeybee in the back of his head while batting under the lights at the HPCA Stadium on Saturday.

Surya, who had earlier been quoted as a vital alternative by head coach Rahul Dravid in the absence of Hardik Pandya, would pick a blow off throw-down specialist Raghu’s full toss. The batter was then seen nursing an icepack on the wrist after which he’d strap a bandage on the wrist and leave the nets.

When enquired by one of the local officials, Surya was heard saying he felt fine as he walked off gingerly.

Kishan, another batting alternative talked about by the India head coach, would also prematurely end his net session after he was stung by a honeybee — as confirmed by the BCCI — just below his helmet in the back of the head.

With Hardik injured and out of contention for the game on Sunday, the Indian team management have been looking for a suitable replacement for the top of the table clash against New Zealand.
