In ODI World Cup 2023, India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets. Virat Kohli was caught out on the score of 95 runs at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. Ravindra Jadeja dropped the catch of Rachin Ravindra, he played an inning of 75 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul also dropped catches.

2. Shami took a wicket on his first ball
India gave a chance to Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav in the playing-11 against New Zealand. Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur were made to sit out. Shami capitalized on this opportunity and took a wicket on the very first ball of his spell. He bowled Will Young.

Shami ended his spell with 5 wickets. Apart from Young, he got Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra caught out. Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry were bowled. This was Shami’s first match in this World Cup.

3. Life to Rachin Ravindra, Jadeja dropped the catch.
Rachin Ravindra got a lease of life in the 11th over, Ravindra Jadeja dropped his easy catch at point. Fifth ball of the over, Mohammed Shami bowled a short pitch, Ravindra played a cut shot. The ball went straight to Jadeja’s hand but the ball slipped from his hand. Rachin was currently batting on the score of 12 runs.

Earlier, in the 5th over, Team India took DRS against Rachin, but the review was unsuccessful. On the second ball of the 11th over, the umpire gave Rachin out behind, but Rachin took a review and remained not out. Rachin again survived in the 29th over due to DRS. 4. Rohit got injured in his finger and went out of the field.
Rohit walked out of the field after the 10th over. He dived to stop the shot played by Daryl Mitchell on the last ball of Siraj in the 10th over. Due to this his finger got injured and he went out of the field. However, Rohit’s injury was not serious and he returned to the field in the 13th over.

5. Kane Williamson came to the field carrying drinks
The first drinks break of New Zealand’s innings took place after the 13th over. During this, team captain and star player Kane Williamson came to the field posing as a water boy and carrying drinks. Catches were also dropped from KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah in the first innings. In the 30th over, KL Rahul dropped the catch of Daryl Mitchell. Ravindra Jadeja bowled the third ball of the over fuller length outside the stump. 7. Play stopped for 20 minutes due to fog
The match between India and New Zealand in Dharamsala was stopped for 20 minutes due to fog. Fog arrived at around 7:38 pm, making it difficult to see the players, after which the match was stopped. However, after 20 minutes the fog cleared and the match started again.

This is not the first strange reason for stopping a cricket match. Six years ago, the test match between India and Sri Lanka had to be stopped due to high pollution in Delhi.

Virat Kohli was caught out after scoring 95 runs. He made 3 important fifty partnerships in Team India’s victory but he got out before the team could win. The fourth ball of the 48th over was bowled by Matt Henry of slower good length. Kohli played a shot in the air to hit a six, but was caught by Glenn Phillips at mid-wicket.

However, by the time Kohli was out, Team India had reached the threshold of victory. India chased the target just 2 balls after his wicket. Jadeja scored a very important 39 runs. On the other hand, Virat Kohli became a victim of nervous nights for the 7th time in ODI. Nervous nights means playing an innings between 90 to 99 runs and missing a century. Virat was out between 90 and 99 runs for the sixth time, he has been not out only once during this period.
