Virat Kohli one century short of equalling Ricky Ponting in this stat for match-winners | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the best modern-day match-winner with the bat, but going purely by the number of international hundreds scored in a winning cause, the Indian batting icon requires another century to equal former Australia captain Ricky Ponting’s record and two to go past him.
Virat’s latest century in a winning cause came in India’s match against Bangladesh in the ongoing ICC World Cup.It was his 48th ODI century and 78th across formats in internationalcricket.

Of those 78 international centuries by Kohli, 54 have resulted in victories for India, which is only one short of the record 55 of Ponting’s international centuries (71) bringing a win for Australia.

Sachin Tendulkar is third in that list, with 53 of his 100 international hundreds resulting in an Indian win.
