India’S Best Ever Asian Para Games: Asian Para Games: India script history, achieve historic medal haul with 73 medals | Asian Games 2023 News

NEW DELHI: India’s para-athletes have made history by securing their highest-ever gold medal tally at the Asian Para Gameswith the 16th gold medal won. India’s outstanding performance has surpassed its previous best medal count of 72 at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

The historic 73rd medal in the ongoing Games in Hangzhoucame from Nithya Sre, who clinched a remarkable bronze medal in the Women’s Singles SH6 event.This achievement marks a historic moment for the Indian contingent, surpassing its previous best performance.

Notably, Indian shooter Sidhartha Babu played a pivotal role in this feat, securing a gold medal with a scintillating performance. Sidhartha achieved gold in the R6 Mixed 50m Rifles Prone SH-1 event, setting a new Asian Para Games Record with an impressive score of 247.7. This achievement also earned India a quota for the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Avani Lekhara participated in the same event and secured an 8th place finish in the finals.
In Women’s Shot Put-F34, Bhagyashri Madhavrao Jhadav claimed the silver medal with a remarkable throw of 7.54 metres, showcasing her incredible sporting prowess. In the Archery Men’s Doubles – W1 Open event, Archer Adil Mohamed Nazir Ansari and Naveen Dalal clinched a bronze medal with a remarkable score of 125-120.
The flurry of medals continued on Day 4, with Sukant Kadam securing a bronze in Men’s Badminton Singles SL-4 with an outstanding performance.

India also shined in athletics on Day 4, securing a double podium finish in Men’s Shot Put-F46. Sachin Khilari struck gold and set a Games Record with an impressive throw of 16.03 metres, while Rohit Hooda achieved a bronze medal with a personal best throw of 14.56 metres.
In the Men’s 100m T-37 event, Shreyansh Trivedi secured an impressive bronze with a remarkable time of 12.24 seconds.
For Athlete Narayan Thakur captured the bronze in the Men’s 100m T-35 with a time of 14.37 seconds, marking his second medal at the Asian Para Games.
