Step aside, Halloween Ends. Sorry ‘bout ya, The Super Mario Bros Movie. There’s a new boss in town, and he’s tall, furry, and reeks of pizza. After a big weekend at the theatrical box office, Five Nights at Freddy’swhich released the same day on Peacock—has also done huge numbers for the streamer.

According to a Peacock press release, the Emma Tammi-directed Five Nights at Freddy’s is now Peacock’s “most-watched film or series ever in its first five days on the streaming platform, surpassing previous record-holders Halloween Ends, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Bel-Air and The Best Man: The Final Chapters.”

This is just the cherry on the top of good news for Blumhouse, which saw the movie rack up $132.7 million globally this weekend—good enough to be the biggest horror movie opening of the entire year, as well as the studio’s biggest global opening ever. Stateside, it scored the second-biggest opening of all time for a movie based on a video game (in that regard, The Super Mario Bros. still has it beat), as well as the biggest opening for a horror movie with a woman director.

Not bad for a movie about a guy (Josh Hutcherson) so desperate for a job he agrees to be a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria—a place where the animatronics do not come to play. Presumably the next Five Nights news that doesn’t involve box-office and streaming numbers will be letting fans know when to expect the sequel. Watch on Peacock here.
