Volkswagen has further expanded its Taigun SUV model lineup with the addition of a new special edition based on the top-end GT trim. Known as the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition, this model is priced at Rs 16.3 lakh, which places it at the same price point as the mid-spec GT trim.
Only a limited number of units of this new special edition will be available across the country. In the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, the Taigun competes with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, and the newly-launched Honda Elevate.
The Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition features several sporty enhancements over the standard model. It comes equipped with blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels and front brake calipers finished in red. Special decals can be found on the doors, C-pillars, and rear fenders, along with a ‘Trail’ badge on the tailgate. Additionally, the special edition features functional roof rails and is available in three distinctive color schemes – Candy White, Carbon Steel Grey, and Reflex Silver.
Inside the cabin, the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition differentiates itself with black seat upholstery adorned with contrast red stitching and ‘Trail’ embossing.
Key features include a dashcam with visual recorders and a 2-inch built-in IPS LCD display, a 10-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear camera, wireless phone charging, a tire pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps, and more. However, the special edition lacks some features present in the regular model, such as a fully digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, cruise control, six airbags, and full LED headlamps.
Powering the Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is the same 1.5L turbo petrol engine producing 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. This limited edition is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox only.
