Dr. RK Dhiman, Director of Cancer Institute, Lucknow, said that the number of cancer patients is increasing rapidly. The matter of concern is that most patients are not diagnosed with the disease initially. After getting diagnosed with the disease, the patient and his family members become mentally distressed.

Lucknow (Bureau). Cancer cases are continuously increasing, due to which the patients and their relatives have to suffer and endure a lot mentally. In view of this problem, OPD of Psycho Oncology has been started from Friday at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute located at Chak Ganjriya. This is the first government institution in UP, in which special OPD has been started for cancer patients and their relatives. This will provide relief to cancer patients and their relatives. So that they can get relief during treatment.

Increasing cancer a matter of concern

Director of Cancer Institute, Dr. RK Dhiman said that the number of cancer patients is increasing rapidly. The matter of concern is that most patients are not diagnosed with the disease initially. After getting diagnosed with the disease, the patient and his family members become mentally distressed. Even during treatment, the family members of the patient have to go through mental pain. Cancer treatment takes a long time. Thinking about all this, patients and attendants get worried. Become vulnerable to stress.

Patients will get relief

OPD of Psycho Oncology has been started to save cancer patients and their family members from stress. Director Dr. RK Dhiman told that the medical superintendent and mental illness specialist of the institute, Dr. Devashish Shukla has started treating patients in OPD from Friday. It also has the facility of consultation and counseling. Mentally troubled patients will be given relief. Cancer treatment takes a long time. This further increases the confusion of the patients. Therefore, along with cancer, treatment of mental illnesses is also important. With this the patient will be able to fight cancer better.

OPD will run for three days

Medical Superintendent Dr. Devashish Shukla said that OPD will be operated three days a week. OPD will run from 9 am to 5 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in room number 110. During this period, patients will be seen and advice will be provided, so that the patients can get mental relief.

Psycho Oncology OPD has been started for cancer patients and their relatives. It also has the facility of consultation and counseling, which will provide great relief to the patients.
