It appears that Samsung is renewing its collaboration with fashion brand Maison Margiela for the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The two collaborated on a special Galaxy Z Flip 4 Maison Margiela edition last year. They’re now coming together for a similarly branded special edition of Samsung’s latest clamshell foldable smartphone.
Nothing changes on the inside. It’s still the same Galaxy Z Flip 5 that we know and love. There are some cosmetic changes, though. The leaked image shows that this year’s collaboration has gone for a grungy aesthetic that actually looks pretty cool.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela edition coming soon
Last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 Maison Margiela edition had a matte white finish with a silver-white metal frame. There were shades of grey thrown in there and translucent lines to highlight the phone’s internal circuits. The unique accessories that shipped with it included a unique leather case as well.
The leaked Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela edition has a more grungy and edgy look with an appearance that’s evidently inspired by graffiti. This new aesthetic suits the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s overall more modern look. It also appears that there’s going to be a unqiue leather case for this variant that has a retro look.
No word as yet on how much it’s going to cost but it goes without saying that this special edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is only going to be available in limited quantities like its predecessor. Last year’s special edition was only made available in Hong Kong, France, and South Korea. It remains to be seen if the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela edition is released more widely.
