Japanese automaker, Suzuki had revealed the fourth generation Swift hatchback at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. The new model is scheduled to be launched in our market sometime in the first half of 2024. In fact, Maruti Suzuki has started testing the new Swift on the Indian roads. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will come with an all-new petrol engine, which is claimed to be highly fuel efficient.
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is powered by a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder, Z12E petrol engine; however, the power and torque figures are yet to be revealed. This new powertrain is expected to offer higher power and torque compared to the existing 1.2L NA petrol engine. This new engine is mated with a CVT unit. A new media report claims that the non hybrid version of the new Swift will return a mileage of 23.40kmpl. On the other hand, the hybrid version will return a fuel efficiency of 24.50kmpl. The existing model is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, DualJet petrol engine which claims to return a mileage of 22.38kmpl and 22.56kmpl for manual and AMT variants, respectively.
In terms of proportions, the new Swift is 3860mm long, 1695mm wide and 1500mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2450mm (Full Report Here). Compared to the current generation, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is 15mm longer; however, it width and height have been reduced by 40mm and 30mm respectively. The hatchback comes with sharper headlamps with LED projector daytime running lights (DRLs), a new & larger grille with dark chrome accents, a revised front bumper, a new rear door and new tailgate design.
The concept model showcased at the Tokyo Show was equipped with an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technology. It is expected that the India-spec model won’t be offered with ADAS features. The hatchback comes with an all-new interior, which is inspired from the Baleno and the Fronx crossover. It comes with a new multi-functional steering wheel, a 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay support, a semi-digital instrument console and the Fronx-inspired HVAC controls.
