Israel-Hamas War News Live Updates (November 16, 2023): The Israeli military searched Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital twice in 24 hours and claimed to have found weapons in the location, which Hamas alleged were staged. “The troops continue to search the hospital in a precise, intelligence-based, manner,” army spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said at a press briefing late on Wednesday. “We will continue to do so, in order to gather further information, to discover additional assets, and to expose the terror activities within the hospital.”

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said today that he had made it clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that a two-state solution was the only answer to resolve the Israel-Palestinian conflict and that occupying Gaza would be a mistake.

What is the death toll? More than 11,000 Gazans have been killed in Israeli strikes over the past month, with around 40% of them being children, according to the enclave’s health department. Around 1,200 Israelis were killed by Hamas in the surprise attack on October 7 and more than 240 others have been taken hostage by the militant group.
