In the relentless pursuit of enhanced safety on the roads, the automotive industry is at the forefront of integrating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) into upcoming vehicle models. In India, the adoption of ADAS is still in its nascent stages. However, the landscape is rapidly evolving, driven by the impending safety regulations from the government and an increasing awareness of the benefits of ADAS. This momentum is compelling OEMs in the country to incorporate ADAS technology into their upcoming models.
Prominent players in the Indian automotive market, including Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata, and Mahindra, are gearing up to introduce ADAS-equipped vehicles. Additionally, international brands like Toyota, Kia, and MG are actively participating in this movement. In the coming months, consumers can anticipate four significant product launches spanning three different segments, all featuring cutting-edge ADAS technology.

Among the forthcoming launches, the subcompact SUV segment will witness the mid-life update of the Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV300 in early 2024. Both models are currently undergoing final testing and are expected to boast ADAS. The updated XUV300 will become the first vehicle in its segment to offer a panoramic sunroof.
Hyundai’s popular Creta SUV is set for a refresh in the same timeframe, with subtle cosmetic changes and feature upgrades including ADAS suite. Features such as a fully digital 10.25-inch driver’s display and a 360 degree camera will also be on offer. Notably, the new 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift will now be powered by the Verna’s 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
Further contributing to the ADAS revolution, indigenous automakers Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are poised to introduce the Curvv.ev and the Thar 5-door, respectively, in early 2024. These SUVs are anticipated to showcase ADAS, marking a significant stride in the integration of safety technologies within the Indian automotive industry.
