High Court Denies Stay, Oks Hyped OTT Series The Railway Men

A four-episode miniseries, set to release on November 18th on Netflix, inspired by events surrounding the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, faced a roadblock but has now been cleared.

The case was filed by former employees seeking a stay on the OTT release, citing concerns that they were worried that the way the series depicted the events that caused the tragedy could potentially influence or bias the legal outcomes of their ongoing or future legal actions related to the incident.

They requested a pre-screening of the series due to alleged factual errors in the trailer and demanded a stay on its release.

However, the judge denied the request, noting that the series begins with a disclaimer labeling it a ‘work of fiction’ and ‘inspired’ by the tragedy. Additionally, details about the 1984 Bhopal Gas tragedy are already in the public domain.

‘The Railway Men – The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984,’ the series has garnered significant hype, further fueled by its production under Yash Raj Films (YRF), adding to its hype.
