A man wearing a ‘Free Palestine’ t-shirt caused a disruption during the India vs Australia ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 finals on Sunday.
The pitch invader, clad in red shorts and a white t-shirt with the message ‘Stop bombing Palestine’ on the front and ‘Free Palestine’ on the back, attempted to hug Virat Kohli.
Carrying a rainbow flag, he was soon caught and taken into custody over the security breach. Identified as Johnson Wayne from Australia, he stated that his protest was against the war in Palestine.
The match was briefly halted, and after the security officials apprehended the intruder, it resumed with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul attempting to build a steady partnership for India after losing two wickets in quick succession.
