The ACB court in Vijayawada authorised the CID officials to attach the properties of Terasoft company in the Fibernet case. The State government had issued orders for the attachment of the Terasoft company properties in the case.
Following this, the CID filed a petition in the court seeking its permission to proceed further. The court, on hearing the arguments, authorised the CID to take possession of the properties of the Terasoft company.
In all, the CID would attach properties worth Rs 114 crore of the Terasoft, headed by Thummala Gopichand, who is accused No 1 in the case. Gopichand’s wife Pawana Devi properties would also be attached in the case.
The CID had proposed attachment of the properties of Gopichand, his wife Pawana Devi, and another accused, Kanumuri Koteswara Rao, who was named as accused 23 in the case. These persons have properties in Guntur and Visakhapatnam, and they would now be attached.
Arguing for the CID, a special public prosecutor told the court that these properties worth Rs 114 crore are to be attached in the case. He also told the court that the court has the powers to attach the properties equal to the worth of the crime.
The court then accepted the argument and authorised the CID to attach the properties.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh high court on Tuesday took up the hearing on the liquor scam. The CID had filed the cases against Chandrababu Naidu and then minister Kollu Ravindra alleging that the government had given permissions to the liquor companies to make new brands in violation of the rules.
The state government had lost heavily due to the permission given by the government, the CID alleged.
Advocate Nagamuthu, arguing for Chandrababu Naidu and Ravindra told the court that the then opposition party (YSR Congress) did not oppose liquor permissions when the state government granted them. He also told the court that the government took the privilege fee also as per the norms. He told the court that the case was purely political and has no base in it.
The court posted the case for Wednesday. The CID would present its arguments on the day.
