Indians in the U.S., particularly in the IT industry, have been accused of faking job interviews and experiences on their resumes, often making headlines.
Now, another country has come under scrutiny for a similar issue, alongside India.
According to a report by Reuters, North Korean IT individuals are using fake names, fabricated LinkedIn profiles, and counterfeit resumes to secure remote positions in Western tech companies.
Over the past four years, North Korea has deployed huge number of IT workers abroad, and this number continues to grow annually.
These remote IT professionals from North Korea earn ten times more than the average North Korean laborer.
Reuters reported that a North Korean IT worker confessed, stating, ‘We would create 20 to 50 fake profiles a year until we were hired and we would create 20 to 50 fake profiles a year until we were hired”.
