Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs With Hybrid Tech

The surge in popularity of hybrid vehicles among Indian consumers is unmistakable, with sales of hybrid cars experiencing a remarkable 400% growth in the second quarter of this year. This remarkable trend is attributed to the introduction of new models such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Invicto, and Honda City, all equipped with robust hybrid powertrains. While these vehicles boast strong hybrid technology, several models across different segments are also reaping the benefits of mild hybrid technology. For those in search of a hybrid family vehicle, the market is gearing up for the arrival of four new 7-seater SUVs in the coming years. Let’s delve into the details.

Set to make its debut in 2024, the new-generation Toyota Fortuner will be equipped with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid technology. This powertrain, recently introduced in the new Toyota Hilux MHEV, is expected to enhance the Fortuner’s fuel efficiency significantly. Generating a claimed power of 204PS and 420Nm of torque, the SUV will ride on Toyota’s TNGA-F platform. It will feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle stability control, and a hydraulic steering wheel. Cosmetic alterations will draw inspiration from the Tacoma pickup truck.
