November Box Office: Calm Before The Storm?

November turned out to be a lackluster month for the box office, with disappointments across various film releases.

The first week saw the release of Maa Oori Polimera 2 and Keeda Cola. While Keeda Cola found success only in the USA, Maa Oori Polimera 2 turned out to be just a decent affair at the box office. Karthi’s Japan and Jigarthanda Double X were outright disasters.

Payal Rajput and Ajay Bhupathi’s Mangalavaaram also fell short of the expectations. The big World Cup final match incurred a loss of a few crores for the film.

Panja Vaisshnav Tej’s Aadikeshava marked another disaster at the box office. Re-releases of classics like Shankar Dada MBBS and Adhurs also failed to ignite the box office.

Now all eyes are on the December releases. The month will start with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal which is carrying huge hype after its trailer and pre-release event. The film is all set to break many records on its opening day.

Nani’s Hi Nanna is releasing on December 7. Nani is putting all his efforts into promoting this emotional love entertainer. It is not a front-loaded film like Animal, but if the word of mouth is positive, it might surprise at the box office.

Then comes the biggest of them all, Prabhas’ Salaar releasing on December 22. It is easily the biggest film of the year and is releasing amid the highest expectations. Prabhas’ teaming up with the KGF director Prashanth Neel is the main reason for its unprecedented hype.

The film is clashing with SRK’s Dunki which will dent its box office prospects considerably if it gets a positive talk. Salaar is extremely crucial for Prabhas as he has been struggling to deliver a genuine hit after Baahubali.

Let’s hope the dull box office performance in November is the calm before the storm that will come in December.
