India, on Wednesday, voted against Israel at the United Nations as it backed the resolution that calls on Tel Aviv to vacate Syrian Golan. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution urging Israel to withdraw from the occupied Golan Heights. India, along with 90 other nations, voted in favour of the resolution.

The document emphasises the demand for Israel to withdraw from all occupied Syrian Golan to the June 4, 1967, line in compliance with relevant Security Council resolutions.

“The UNGA reiterates its demand that Israel withdraw from all occupied Syrian Golan to the line of June 4, 1967, in compliance with the relevant Security Council resolutions,” the document read.

Notably, 8 countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, voted against the resolution, while 62 countries, including Ukraine and France, abstained from voting. The decision was made on Tuesday, November 28.
