Akkineni’s web series Dutha is the debut of young actor Naga Chaitanya. This suspense thrilling action web series with a total of 8 episodes is produced by Sarath Marar and directed by Vikram K Kumar. Let’s see how this web series is in full review.
Story:
Sagar (Naga Chaitanya) first started his career as a journalist and later rose to the top as the chief editor of Samachar magazine. This makes Sagar very happy, but his happiness does not last long as a series of tragedies takes place in his life. But what is surprising is that some newspapers predict these tragedies as clippings. And how is that possible, does Sagar have any enemies in his profession, and finally Sagar was able to solve the mystery behind those newspaper clippings or not is to be seen in the entire messenger series.
Plus Points:
First of all the story is important, then how the director connects it to the audience is more important. In fact, the main point of Doota is the same as in the previous films directed by Vikram Kumar. But it must be said that Vikram Kumar has propelled the story of the messenger brilliantly. In fact, it is not a common thing to take such an old story and connect it to today’s audience in an interesting way.
The director’s take impresses us in almost every episode from the first episode. Especially the visuals, background score and scenes entertain us a lot along with handling the suspense well. Some crime and death scenes in the middle add more interest to what is happening. Through this, director Vikram K Kumar has given a good message to the society. Also, this is not forceful on us. There is a lot of depth in each character and each character carries the story interestingly till the end. Especially, Naga Chaitanya acted brilliantly in his first web series. Although there are two shades in his character, he has performed them well. As a person who takes care of the safety of his family very much, he is convinced in his character. He also acted well in emotional scenes.
And Parvathy Thiruvothu also acted very well in the scope of her role. Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prachi Desai, Pashupati, Ravindra Vijay, Tarun Bhaskar and others acted brilliantly in their respective roles. The climax episode of the saga is very good as the twists are revealed one by one. Rainy background throughout the series gives a new experience to the audience.
Minus Points:
But the flash back episodes in this series are not interesting. It seems that they could have been written better by director Vikram K Kumar. Also, in terms of run time, it would have been better if the length had been reduced. The series slows down in some episodes here and there. Some of the dialogues in the series are troublesome for some audience.
Technical category:
The background score by Ishaan Chhabra is very good. Mikolaj Saigula’s cinematography is also super. Along with the visuals, the entire series is also very grand. But the editing department needs to work more and trim some scenes here and there. Vikram Kumar, who previously made Disappointment, has now taken a simple point with the Doota series and has made it an edge thriller in a way that connects it to the audience. Also, the message given to the society is also very good.
Verdict:
It must be said that this Doota web series coming in the crazy combination of Naga Chaitanya and Vikram Kumar will impress the audience with its mystery thrilling concept. Even though the story is old, the way the director has made the story interesting is good. Its main strengths are the actors’ performances, high technical values, impressive background score and photography. But in terms of run time it seems to be a bit long. Flashback episodes should also be written more interestingly. Overall, it can be said that Naga Chaitanya will impress the OTT audience very much through this series.
