Witness, Hyderabad: Barring the clash of party workers here and there, the assembly election polling is going on peacefully almost all over Telangana. In the capital Hyderabad, however, the polling is slow. But in some places, voters are sitting in fear of voting. They think that this is the right time.
Boycott of polling
Tribal villagers boycotted polling in Satyampeta village of Satthupalli mandal of Khammam district. The tribal villagers boycotted the vote saying that no development programs were done in their village.
Also.. Villagers boycotted elections in two places in Vaira Constituency. The tribals are protesting that roads, drinking water facilities and infrastructure have not been established in the new Medepalli village of Enkuru mandal for 20 years. They are asking to vote until their problem is solved, but the authorities are keeping them alive.
A similar scene was seen in Rajula Palem village of Enkuru Mandal. As the demand to construct a road from Rajula Palem village to Sri Aunya Venkateswara Swamy temple was not fulfilled, the villagers decided to hold a vote.
We vote only if we pay!
The way voters are demanding money in Mahabubabad district has become a topic of discussion. Voters of Santulal Podu SC Colony under Santulal Podu Gram Panchayat of Bayyaram Mandal have decided that they will vote only if they give money. As a result, officials are dying to vote. So far not a single vote has been polled there.
I want a road
The villagers boycotted the elections in Kothapally in Adilabad’s Bazar Hatnur Mandal. They sat there fearing to vote till the road facility is provided to the village. Officials who came to know about this matter and went to the village are negotiating with them.
Voters or Velavela
Voters of Waripeta village of Kasipeta Mandal in Bellampally Constituency abstained from polling to protest against the non-establishment of their village as Gram Panchayat. Only 20 voters exercised their right to vote till 11 am. With this, the officials entered the field and are negotiating with the villagers.
