Bangalore School Bomb Threat: 15 schools in Bengaluru get bomb threat; students, staff evacuated | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Chaos prevailed in the premises of at least 45 schools in different parts of Bengaluru when administrative staff received mails, saying explosives have been planted in their institution and could get triggered anytime.
Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda said, many anti-sabotage teams were scanning the school premises and they found no suspicious objects.

“As of now, it looks like a hoax-message. We will complete the search operation soon. However, we request parents not to panic,” he said, adding, “Last year too, miscreants had sent similar emails to many schools in the city,” the top cop said.

Panic in schools
Many parents, teachers and guardians experienced anxiety. While some schools moved students to nearby playgrounds and other safe places, few schools asked parents/guardians to come and collect their children.
Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar also visited a school in Bengaluru to take stock of the situation.

“I was a bit dismayed after seeing the news on TV, as some schools I know and the one near my house were also mentioned. So I went out to check. The police have shown me the mail. Prima facie, it appears to be fake (hoax). I spoke to the police… But we should be cautious. Parents are a bit worried, no need to worry. Police are looking into it,” he said.
Shivakumar appealed to parents not to worry and said their children would be safe.
“Some mischief mongers might have done this, in 24 hours we will nab them. Cyber crime police are active, they are doing their job… We should also be cautious and should not neglect,” he added.
