It is getting more and more difficult everyday to decide whom you can trust and whom not. Criminals disguising as officials is not new but these conmen always find a new way to cheat innocent people. An NRI woman was robbed of jewelry worth millions by two criminals who posed as police officers in Gurugram. The victim is a 70 year old woman who lives in Bangkok and had returned to India only a few days before the incident.
The robbing took place on the 26th of November in DLF Phase -III when the woman was traveling in an auto rickshaw. Jewelry worth at least ₹10 lakh was stolen from her. According to the woman, two men came on a bike and showed fake ID cards, posing as police officers.
One of the men took the auto rickshaw driver away to check the papers while the other person asked the woman to keep all her jewelry in a bag because of chain snatching incidents in the region. He then insisted on checking the jewelry himself.
When the person returned the bag to the woman, she found that it was filled with fake jewelry. The police have said that two other similar incidents happened around the same time and they have got CCTV footage of it as well.
