Congress Failed To Use TDP Voters

Congress Party which stunned BRS in North Telangana and South Telangana fell short in the GHMC area.

In the 23 seats of the GHMC area, Congress failed to open its account. BRS took fifteen, MIM got their usual seven, and BJP contained with one.

From then, analysis have become about the zero impact of Kamma, TDP, and Settler voters on these seats in the wake of Chandrababu’s arrest and the situations that arose after that.

Firstly, the Kamma, TDP, and Settler votes are not confined only to the GHMC area. They have a presence in Khammam, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Mahabubnagar districts where Congress performed really well.

Tummala Nageswara Rao who lost in the 2018 elections won with a majority of 50,000 votes this time. We know how Tummala used TDP extensively here.

Coming to the actual topic Congress was unable to have an impact in the GHMC area.

TDP voters are definitely not a big vote bank like before 2014. They are a sizeable population that can tilt the balance with their weight.

But Congress lacks minimal presence in the city. There is no strong leader for the party here and the candidates are also not strong here.

For this very reason, we saw very little of Revanth Reddy in the GHMC area. He only concentrated on the Rural Telangana knowing that Congress’s real strength exists there.

If Congress had done a reasonable job in the GHMC area, it would have bagged some seats with that extra push from TDP.
Also, there is a pro-BRS vote in this area due to the infrastructure development that happened.

There is one more problem here. There is also a division in the voters of TDP.

Even though TDP supporters are angry with BRS, they have a soft corner with some leaders who were previously in TDP and were compelled to join BRS.

For example, Arekapudi Gandhi in Serlingampally, Maganti Gopinath in Jubilee Hills, Vivekanand Goud in Qutubullapur, Prakash Goud in Rajendranagar, Madhavaram Krishna Rao in Kukatpally, and Mallareddy from Medchal, are such candidates.

TDP voters are divided here due to that soft corner towards the former TDP and the present BRS candidates.

And then, the voters of YSR Congress have consolidated against the Congress. Then, there are Janasena supporters and Kapu community people who support the BJP.

In conclusion, TDP, Kamma, and Settlers (neutral) votebank that is serious after Chandrababu issue came handy to Congress where the party has decent presence. But they could not push the party to a large extent where it has no proper leadership or presence.
