England Cricket Team had recently announced the central contract. England batsman Will Jacks revealed that he got the news of his omission from the central contract through social media.
Will Jacques, who has represented England in all three formats, is not among the players who have received a central contract from the ECB. At the same time, another prominent name was David Willey, who was not given the contract. England's performance in the World Cup 2023 was poor, but David Willey had performed brilliantly.
David Willey has announced his retirement from international cricket after being left out of the central contract. Will Jacques told Eurosport that he saw this news on Twitter, which was very disappointing. 25-year-old Jacques was expected to get a central contract.
Will Jacques said, 'I looked on Twitter like everyone else and was disappointed. I was hoping to get the contract. I felt like I was part of the squad. Maybe the contract came an hour or two earlier and maybe I played more and I might have got a contract. I was really disappointed. I knew that everyone was listening and I was hoping that I would get the contract and then I came to know that I did not get the contract.
Will Jacques said he spoke to England managing director Rob Key about not getting a contract. Jax said that Rob Key said there was nothing negative about him. He believes that the young batsman needs to understand that World Cup squad members deserve contracts.
Jacques said, 'He said there was nothing wrong about me. It's always about whether the other player is a step above me, which is what needs to be understood. Obviously there are a lot of players who are going to take part in the World Cup who deserve a contract and I understand that. It is also certain that you can give only a limited number of contracts. Bowlers will get priority due to injuries.
