OnePlus 12 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 3x periscope lens launched in China | Technology News

OnePlus today unveiled the OnePlus 12 in China. Powered by the Qualcomm fastest-ever chipset, the company’s latest flagship phone features an upgraded camera with a periscope lens.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the OnePlus 12 packs a 2K AMOLED LTPO screen developed in partnership with the Chinese display maker BOE. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, HDR Vivid, has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, which might be the highest for any smartphone to date.

While the OnePlus 12 may look similar to its predecessor – the OnePlus 11, it packs a new triple camera set-up that consists of a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with OIS, OV64B 64MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, 6x optical quality zoom and 120x digital zoom and a Sony IMX581 48MP ultrawide angle camera.

The company claims that the OnePlus 12 has the largest cooling system of any OnePlus device, which might help if you play games or perform intensive tasks on the phone for a long duration. OnePlus also seems to have upgraded the vibration motor, which now offers ‘700 plus system vibration adjustments.’

The base variant of the OnePlus 12 comes with 12GB RAM and offers up to 24GB RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. OnePlus 12 also supports wet hand touch, making it easy to use the device when the screen or hands are wet. It runs on ColorOS 14 based on Android 14 out of the box, has IP65 protection and packs a 5,400mAh battery that supports 100W charging and 50W wireless charging.

Festive offer

OnePlus 12 is currently available for pre-order in China, with the base variant that comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage priced at 4,299 Yuan, which roughly translates to Rs 50,700. The company says that the device will be available worldwide in early 2024, but shared no information about the price for the Indian variant.
