After a blockbuster hit like Dussehra, Nani's movie Hi Nanna. It was directed by Souryuv. The film was released today. And let's go to the review and find out how much the audience liked this movie!
Story:
Viraj (Nani) is a famous photographer. He runs a photo studio in Mumbai. Viraj stays with his daughter Mahi (Baby Kiara Khanna). However, Mahi suffers from a lung disease. Viraj strongly believes that Mahi will not leave him, even if the doctors say that he will not live for long. On the other hand, Mahi hopes to know about her mother. Viraj does not tell his daughter about his wife. Who is Viraj's real wife?, Why did she leave Viraj?, Meanwhile, Yashna (Mrinal Thakur) is coming into Viraj's life?, So, why is Yashna (Mrinal Thakur) so connected to Viraj and his daughter?, What is her past?, Finally this How did the story end? That is the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Along with the decent concept, feel good family scenes and emotional father-daughter emotions.. as well as the natural performances of the actors are the highlights of this Hi Nanna movie. Especially the conflict between Nani and Mrinal Thakur.. and increasing the conflict through the influence of Mrinal's character is very good. Nani – Mrinal Thakur also gave life to their characters. Also, the story and characters written by Souryav are interesting and impressive at some places.
Nani gave a good performance as Viraj. He acted very well as an average father in the second half. Nani did full justice to his character with a settled performance especially in the emotional scenes. Nani's acting in the main climax sequence and in the scenes with the daughter saying 'You are not enough of my love' are the highlights of the film. Also, the chemistry between me and Mrinal is also very entertaining
Mrinal Thakur, who played the protagonist, acted very well in her role. She impressed with her screen presence as well as her acting. Shruti Haasan in a cameo role and Jayaram as the father impressed with their natural performances. As usual Priyadarshi who appeared in her style role also acted well. Apart from Angad Bedi, the rest of the actors also acted well in their role.
Minus Points:
Although the story taken by director Souryav is good, the story is simple and slow at some places. Especially the Kooner sequence in the first half and the starting sequences of the second half were not interesting. Some of the love scenes between the heroines are also regular. On the whole, even if the director has elevated the content he wanted on the screen, it would have been a plus for the movie if some routine scenes had been trimmed.
Also, care should be taken in terms of screenplay, even if they tried to increase some interest in the second half by giving a small twist in the interval, it did not work out so effectively. Some of the scenes were boring due to prolongation of each scene. And the climax also went as expected by everyone.
Technical Department:
Talking about the technical experts.. Souryav as a director impressed with a good plot. Also, his taking is also very good. But, he hesitated in writing the screenplay. Music director Hesham Abdul Wahad's songs are good. Similarly the background score is also very good in some key scenes. If the editor had trimmed the unnecessary scenes tightly, it would have been a plus for the film. Cinematography by Shanu Varghese is good. The production values followed by Vaira Entertainments are very good.
Verdict:
This Hi Nanna film, which came as a 'feel good emotional family drama', was impressive with its emotional progression. Good concept along with decent father-daughter emotions and interval and climax are the highlights of this movie. However, some sequences in this movie are moving slowly and some routine scenes are a minus for the movie. If not, Nani – Mrinal took the movie to another level with their performance. Especially their chemistry is very good. Overall, this film 'Hi Nanna' is pleasing the family audience very well.
