Alla Ramakrishna Reddy quits MLA post, party!

In a sudden and swift development, senior YSR Congress party leader and Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy resigned from his assembly membership and the party.

In his one-sentence letter to Speaker Tammineni Seetharam, Alla stated that he was resigning from his assembly membership with effect from Monday for personal reasons. He handed over the resignation letter to the assembly secretary.

He is expected to address a press conference shortly at IBN Bhavan in Mangalagiri, according to sources close to him. While it is believed that he has also quit the YSRC, it is not yet confirmed and will be known through his media conference.

Apparently, Alla has been sulking for quite some time, especially since there were reports that he would not be given the party ticket from Mangalagiri again in the upcoming assembly elections.

Simultaneously, he has been protesting against the government for not releasing funds to the extent of Rs 1250 crore for the development of the constituency, as promised by the party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In addition to this, Alla has been protesting against the encouragement of groups against him within the Mangalagiri party. Recently, the Mangalagiri district YSRC president opened a separate office against Alla.

“Yet, Jagan has not taken any action to quell the dissidence against Alla in Mangalagiri. This led to the MLA taking the drastic step,” sources said.
