Director’s Arrogant Remark After The Archies’ Trolling

Zoya Akhtar, an acclaimed filmmaker, with some acclaimed films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Gully Boy on her success list has made the headlines with her latest film, The Archies but for the negative.

The film, currently streaming on Netflix is her first direct-to-OTT film and has been barraged by negative reviews and criticisms, with fans calling the movie a cringefest.

The film marked the debut of 3 big names, that is Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Janhvi Kapoor’s sister and Sridevi-Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda. Even before its release, The Archies remained in the headlines for bringing up the whole nepotism debate and Zoya finally decided to speak her point in the matter.

Addressing the nepotism accusation, Zoya clarified her stance, defining it as using public or others’ money to favour family or friends, not when utilising personal funds. She defended her right to cast individuals of her choosing, emphasising that audience reception ultimately determines an actor’s or director’s success in obtaining opportunities

In an interview with the Juggernaut, Zoya started off explaining her point with a peaceful stance but soon switched to an aggressive and arrogant one. She went as far as saying “Who are you to tell me what to do with my money? It’s my money

She continued by saying that if tomorrow she wants to spend her money on her niece it’s her problem and at the end of the day day if a director or an actor gets another job, it is solely on the audience as it is they who decide if they want to see them or not.
