YSRCP rebel MLA Undavalli Sridevi is reportedly set to join TDP in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu. She was expelled from YSRCP earlier for supporting a TDP candidate in the MLC elections in March 2023.
Undavalli Sridevi had won as MLA from Tadikonda under Amaravati in 2019. Her suspension from YSRCP came after she allegedly voted in support of the TDP candidate in the MLC elections. Sridevi has now decided to contest from TDP in the upcoming elections.
In preparation for her entry into TDP, a large meeting was organized in Thadikonda during the padayatra, where Lokesh Yuvagalam addressed the crowd. Sridevi highlighted her support for Amaravati even during her time in YSRCP.
Reliable information suggests that Chandrababu has decided to field Undavalli Sridevi from Tiruvur in the joint Krishna district, with changing political equations.
Tiruvuru is located on the border of Telangana, and TDP has faced defeats in the segment in the last three elections. The absence of strong leaders in the party to contest in Tiruvur has created an opportunity for Sridevi to step in.
In 2019, former Minister Jawahar contested from Tiruvur, but TDP faced losses. Sridevi, belonging to the Dalit community, is expected to strengthen TDP’s presence in the segment, and her candidacy is believed to enhance the party’s chances of victory.
