Bail denied for Venkatesh Reddy Sattaru

We previously shared a disturbing story involving Venkatesh Reddy Sattaru and two others from Telugu. At a recent court session, they were denied bail by the judge. Despite an hour of discussion, the judge postponed the decision to January 2024.

The U.S media reported that Venkatesh Sattaru was visibly upset, crying on the side.

Reports from the U.S. media revealed Venkatesh Sattaru’s visible distress during the court session.

The court’s decision came later that Friday evening, citing evidence that monetary or non-monetary conditions wouldn’t guarantee their presence at trial or ensure the community’s safety.

Prosecutors detailed a harrowing account of the victim’s treatment, alleging forced labor, severe beatings, and limited rest while staying with Sattaru. The victim, now out of the hospital after multiple injuries, came to the U.S. on a student visa.

Defense attorneys argued against these claims, asserting the victim’s desire for U.S. citizenship as a motive.

Representatives for the accused highlighted Sattaru’s family responsibilities and military background. However, the prosecution emphasized the victim’s fear and presented evidence of his injuries all over the body.

Victim said – “I think it’s a million times better to kill myself than see those guys again or see them released.”

The case continues, with the next hearing set for January 11.
