Abhimanyu Easwaran will replace Ruturaj Gaikwad in India’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, the BCCI confirmed on Saturday (December 23). Gaikwad, as reported by Cricbuzz on Friday, was ruled out of the Tests after injuring his right ring finger during the second ODI recently.
The opener underwent scans and following an expert consultation, it was decided to send him to NCA for managing the injury. Meanwhile, seamer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the four-day game against South Africa A in Benoni, that is set to begin on December 26.
Rana has been ruled out of that encounter after suffering a hamstring injury and the selectors have also pulled out Kuldeep Yadav from that squad. Sarfaraz Khan, Rinku Singh, Rajat Patidar and Avesh Khan have been added to that A squad.
