Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, starring Prabhas, directly clashed with Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, surprising everyone as Salaar dominated Dunki in five northern states on day one.
Salaar opened with higher numbers than Dunki in Gujarat, Rajasthan, CP Berar, Bihar, and Odisha.
The film had a strong start, collecting 15.50 crore nett in Hindi on day one, a solid figure comparable to Rajamouli’s RRR (Hindi), which made slightly over 19 crore nett.
While RRR heavily promoted in the Hindi belt, Salaar managed to create impact with just its Hindi trailer release.
Salaar Hindi faced tough competition from Dunki in multiplexes across the Hindi belt, as Hirani’s film was the obvious first choice.
Early estimates indicate Salaar could reach 48-50 Crore Hindi nett by the first weekend, and it’s expected to surpass the 100 Crore mark by the second weekend.
Once Salaar crosses 100 crores in the Hindi version, it will mark Prabhas’s fourth film in the 100 crore club, once again confirming his status as the biggest star in Telugu cinema today.
