New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and fast bowler Kyle Jameson will not play in the T20 series against Bangladesh. He has withdrawn his name from the three-match series against Bangladesh to be played later this month.

In place of these two players, Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy have been included in the team. In the absence of Williamson, Mitchell Santner will take command of the team.

The decision has been taken considering medical advice
The New Zealand Cricket Board said, this decision has been taken in view of medical advice and the upcoming schedule, where the team has to play Test series against South Africa and Australia in the summer.

Williamson was away from cricket for seven months earlier this year after suffering a knee injury in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. New Zealand Cricket said, 'Williamson will undergo rehab after recently playing in India and Bangladesh.'

'Jameson has a hamstring problem and is on rehab, he also has to be ready for the Test series against South Africa in February.' Apart from Bangladesh, he will also not play in the T-20 series against Pakistan in January. He did not even play in the recent ODI series against Bangladesh.

Williamson got injured while trying to save the boundary in the match between Gujarat and Chennai played on 31 March.  Williamson has not played any matches since then.

Both players will remain on rehab – coach Gary Stead
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said, 'We want to see both Kane and Kyle playing in the South Africa and Australia series. After talking to the medical staff and players, it has been decided that both of them will remain on rehab. Jacob is an experienced T-20 cricketer. Rachin also wants to prove himself in all three formats.

The first match will be played on 27th December
The first match of the three-match T20 series will be played in Napier on 27 December. The second one will be played on 29th and 31st December. Both these matches will be held in Mount Maunganui.
