Authorities of the government-run Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday refuted rumours of a COVID-related fatality at their institution.

“There is no recorded COVID-related death at our hospital. Currently, the hospital is treating three COVID-positive patients, all of whom are in stable condition and placed in the isolation ward,” OGH superintendent B.Nagender told The Hindu.

Dr.Nagender said last week, a 60-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital with medical emergency of Acute onset of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with severe left ventricle dysfunction (heart failure) and type 2 respiratory failure. “A coincidental test for COVID was positive and the patient passed away on Sunday because of severe heart failure and not because of COVID,” he added.

In anticipation of potential COVID cases, the hospital has established a five-bed isolation ward equipped with essential amenities, including ICU. The superintendent assured that the hospital is well-eqipped with an ample supply of ventilators, oxygen, RT-PCR kits, and necessary medications.
