The eagerly anticipated Ram Temple in Ayodhya is set to open its doors to devotees, with the consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22, 2024. The selection of the idol to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum has generated excitement.

After a meeting organized by Sri Rama Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, one of the three prepared idols was chosen through verbal voting. The chosen idol, representing Lord Rama as a five-year-old boy, stands at a height of 51 inches and will be unveiled during the dedication program. Devotees will have the opportunity to view the idol from a distance of 35 feet.

Champat Roy, the secretary of the trust, disclosed that the most aesthetically pleasing statue was selected, though further opinions will be sought. The installation festivities at the Ramalaya sanctum commence on January 16, 2024, featuring the procession of a 51-inch idol of Bala Rama on the 17th.

Purification of the Ram Mandir with Sarayu river water and Vastu Pujas take place on January 20, followed by the Samprokshan of the Bala Rama idol on the 21st. Finally, on January 22nd, Lord Ram’s idol will be consecrated permanently during morning pujas in the auspicious Mrigasira Nakshatra at noon.
