SUVs are currently the talk of the town in the Indian market and the trend is expected to continue in the year 2024. The popularity of SUVs is not limited to just compact and mid-size SUV segments but extends to the full-size 7-seater SUVs. In line with this, let’s have a look at the upcoming full-size SUVs in India.
1. New-Gen Toyota Fortuner
Likely making an international debut next year, the new generation of Toyota Fortuner could launch in India by 2025. Based on the brand’s TNGA-F platform which also underpins the Innova Hycross, the new SUV will be far more technologically advanced and will get features such as ADAS, a 360-degree parking camera and a panoramic sunroof amongst others. Under the hood, a new 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV diesel engine will power the SUV and it will be paired to a mild hybrid system, thus making it more frugal.
2. MG Gloster Facelift
MG India is preparing to launch the mid-life facelift of Gloster. The news came after a heavily camouflaged test mule of the three-row SUV was spotted testing for the first time in India. Expected to debut next year, the updated SUV will get major updates to its exterior design along with a slew of new feature additions.
Going by the spy shots, the MG Gloster Facelift will get new LED headlamps and tail lamps, updated bumpers, a new front grille and a different design for alloy wheels. Mechanically, the Gloster Facelift will continue with the familiar set of powertrain options i.e. 2.0-litre turbo diesel and 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engines.
3. New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq
The next-generation model of the Skoda Kodiaq made its international debut in October this year. Based on the new MQB-EVO platform, the SUV grows in dimensions making it longer by 61 mm. The India launch of the second-generation Kodiaq is expected to take place by the end of 2024 and the four-wheeler will likely be sold here via the CBU route. The pricing will go upwards of Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom) and the India-spec model will get the familiar 2.0-litre engine petrol engine under the hood.
4. New Volkswagen Tiguan
The new-gen Volkswagen Tiguan will be launched internationally next year. The third-generation model gets a major update in terms of design and is based on the company’s new MQB-EVO platform. Globally, the SUV is offered with a variety of engine options ranging from mild hybrid petrol to turbo diesel, available in both two-wheel as well as four-wheel drive options. In India, the new-gen Tiguan is expected to debut by the end of next year or early 2025 and will be sold via the CBU route.
