New Year is around the corner with the new year celebrations just 3 days from now. In this connection, Hyderabad police have started to impose a new rule with regard to drunk and driving incidents during the New Year celebrations. The police have made it clear that not just the individuals who are caught in drunk and drive incidents, but the bars and pubs behind the same will also be held responsible.

There will be extensive drunk and drive tests starting from 8 PM all across the city. First time offenders will be fined Rs 10,000 or 6 months jail and repeated offenders will be fined Rs 15,000 and/or 2 years in jail. Repeated offenders could have their licenses revoked as well.

Not having the necessary documents for the vehicle could lead to it getting seized. Riding cars with extremely high volumes and not having registration plates will invite hefty fines.

Outer ring road and PV express way will be shut at 10 PM on 31 December and will open at 5 AM on 1 January. All the other major flyovers in the city will remain shut for the said period.

Taxis and hired car drivers shouldn’t hike up their prices. Else, they will have to pay Rs 500 fine.
