Siddharth Anand recalls Shah Rukh Khan Pathaan blockbuster success ahead of Fighter release Hrithik Roshan Deepika Padukone talks about boycott bollywood

In January 2023, Siddharth Anand’s film ‘Pathaan’ made history at the Indian box office. The director, who is now preparing for his next film ‘Fighter’, reminisced on social media about the impact ‘Pathaan’ had on his career. He also mentioned how, just like ‘Pathaan’, he is equally worried about ‘Fighter’, which is scheduled for a release of January 25.

SIDDHARTH ANAND TALKS ABOUT RELEASE OF ‘FIGHTER’

Siddharth took to X (previously Twitter) to share his pre-release anxiety and the challenges ‘Pathaan’ facedincluding a campaign called ‘Boycott Bollywood’. He wrote, “As the new year draws to a close, I take a moment and look back. The year 2023 that changed everything for me. It started with a lot of nervousness and anxiety. PATHAAN, my film was releasing amidst a sea of forces against it. Something very weird called Boycott Bollywood was the phrase of the season. Hindi films were written off by naysayers (sic).”

He then went on to describe how ‘Pathaan’ became one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023. “After going to bed at 3:30am post the cast & crew screening. Woke up feeling numb. The 1st show had just started. Mamta & me decided to go to our friend Jayu’s place and wait for the public reviews. As we sat on his terrace the reviews started to pour in. Unanimously it was declared a BLOCKBUSTER. I couldn’t sit anymore. Decided to visit a theatre and see the reactions. Got to the theatre but for the first time didn’t see the entire film with the audience. I saw the first 30 mins and I could gauge the pulse of the audience,” he added.

Despite the odds, ‘Pathaan’ was released on January 252023, and was unanimously declared a ‘blockbuster’. Siddharth visited a theatre but could only stay for 30 minutes, yet he could sense the audience’s reaction.

Siddharth expressed similar feelings of nervousness and anxiety ahead of ‘Fighter’s release, scheduled for January 25, the same date as ‘Pathaan’s release.

ABOUT ‘FIGHTER’

‘Fighter’ stars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Anil Kapoor also plays a pivotal role in it. The film has been directed by Siddharth Anand. This is Siddharth’s second collaboration with Deepika Padukone after ‘Pathaan’. Meanwhile, Hrithik and Siddharth have previously worked together on ‘War’ and ‘Bang Bang.’

With an estimated budget of Rs 250 crore, Fighter will release on January 25, 2024.
