Katrina Reveals Vijay Was In His Jawan Avatar When They First Met: ‘When I Saw Him..’ | Exclusive

The trailer of Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming release, Merry Christmas, was recently unveiled and it struck a chord with many film lovers for the world the maker has created, its quirky quotient, and the unconventional chemistry between Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. At a pre-release event of the film that was held in Mumbai today, Katrina revealed that she went through intense workshops as she will be seen in a brand new avatar.

This is the first time that she is starring in a film directed by Sriram. The audiences, inarguably, are looking forward to watching her with Vijay on the big screen for the first time. Speaking to News18 Showsha exclusively, Katrina says that she instantly struck an equation with the South star. “I wouldn’t tell you if we didn’t hit it off instantly. No, I am just joking (laughs). Our first meeting had all three of us in a room.”

She further reveals that she always pictured Vijay in his look from Jawan. For the Shah Rukh Khan headlined film, Vijay had to sport a white beard. Vijay was in the look when he first met Katrina for Merry Christmas and the look remained in her mind. “I had recently seen a picture of Vijay sir in which he had white hair and a white beard. It’s a picture that comes a lot on the internet. So, I had always seen him that way. When I walked into the office, I didn’t know quite well what to expect,” she says. Katrina further adds, “When I saw him like in a different way, I was like, ‘Oh wow, that’s a very different look!'”

Talking about her takeaway from working with Sriram and Vijay, she shares with us exclusively, “I was extremely excited to be working with Sriram sir and Vijay sir. When we came together in a room, we came just as themselves and we instantly were able to connect. The minute Vijay sir started speaking about the scene, it was fascinating for me. I thought, ‘This is a person who views things in such a unique way.’ Sriram sir has a very unique take on everything he does including the way he sees stories and people. We came together to find a rhythm and our own way of working and bringing the script to life.”

At the same event, Vijay also spoke about his experience of collaborating with Katrina and remarked, “I never thought that I would work with Katrina Kaif. I am a big fan of her and the first day when I met her, I was very happy to see her but at the same time couldn’t express myself. She was a very thoughtful actor who has a lot of questions to ask. She is a very dedicated actor and at the same time very adaptable. She puts in a lot of effort with a lot of sensibility to make a scene better. Katrina is not just beautiful but also sensible.”
