Apple Could Shake VR/AR Landscape This Week With Its ‘Spatial Computer’ Announcement; Launch In More Countries Tipped

Apple Vision Pro Release Date Update: Apple introduced the Vision Pro headset at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, with the launch date slated for early this year in the US. It seems the wait will finally come to an end as Mark Gurman from Bloomberg claims that the headset has started shipping in “small quantities” to warehouses in the US before arrival in stores. The next step may be a launch in February.

According to the journalist’s “Power On” weekly, the upcoming stage in the shipping process will be in-store availability following the launch. Gurman speculates that Apple may “make an announcement” around the headset this week to steal some spotlight from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024.

Gurman added that two to four Apple store employees are being involved in secret training for a new product. The device is likely the Vision Pro. These employees will likely help customers experience the headset and learn the skills to market the product (and teach the same to others). Meetings for employees are slated for the second half of January.

The report noted these could be around the training of the staff for the sale of the device. Apple filing patents for every software and hardware element of Vision Pro and assembler Luxshare hosting a delivery ceremony of the first Apple MR headset are other hints that the launch is super close. The headset will start from $3,499 (roughly Rs 2,91,000), according to Apple’s press note.

Buyers may have to book the Vision Pro on Apple’s website, book an appointment and examine the product at the retail store for the right fit. An application to scan the face may launch later to eliminate the Apple store tour during the purchase cycle. The iPhone maker could expand the availability of Vision Pro to other markets such as China, Canada and the UK soon after launch, Gurman noted.
