5 New Renault Cars Confirmed For India – SUVs, EV

Renault has unveiled its strategic plan, ‘Renaulution India 2024,’ to fortify its presence in the Indian automotive market. As part of this initiative, the French automaker is set to introduce five new models over the next three years, including the next-generation Kiger and Triber, two new SUVs in the B and C segments, and a localized electric vehicle (EV). Emphasizing its commitment to the ‘Make in India’ vision, Renault plans to leverage its Chennai production plant, Logistics & Technology center, and Design studio.

While specific details about the new-generation Renault Kiger and Triber are yet to be revealed, expectations include significant design changes and feature upgrades. The Triber will face competition from Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming mini MPV based on the Suzuki Spacia,

New-Gen Renault Duster – 5/7-Seater

The anticipated two all-new SUVs are likely to be the new-generation Renault Dusteravailable in both 5 and 7-seater configurations. The 5-seater variant will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. The 7-seater model aims to challenge the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and upcoming three-row SUVs from Maruti and Toyota.

2024 New Renault Duster features

Designed on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform, which supports different body styles and engines, the new Duster will be heavily localized for competitive pricing. A significant update under the hood is expected, with the introduction of the strong hybrid powertrain called the Hybrid 140. This setup includes a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine, a 1.2kWh battery pack, a 49bhp electric motor, and a starter generator.

Additionally, the SUV model lineup will offer the TCe 130 motor with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine and a 48V mild hybrid system. Optional AWD (all-wheel drive) and a terrain mode selector with four driving modes – Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road, and Eco – will enhance the Duster’s capabilities. The SUV will feature a ground clearance of 217mm and approach/departure/ramp brakeover angles of 31 degrees, 36 degrees, and 24 degrees, respectively.

The upcoming Renault electric car is expected to be a localized version, possibly the Kwid EV. Globally known as the Dacia Spring EV, the electric hatchback will be based on the CMF-A platform. In the Indian market, it will compete against models such as the Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and MG Comet.
