Police record Suchana Seth’s disclosure statement, take her to Goa hotel to recreate crime scene | India News

Suchana Seth, the Bengaluru-based CEO of a tech start-up accused of killing her four-year-old son in a Goa hotel, has given “crucial details” of the case to the police in her disclosure statement, though she still maintains she did not kill her son, sources familiar with the investigation told The Indian Express.

Police said the disclosure statement is “contradictory in parts”, and added that Seth also claimed she attempted suicide at the hotel, using kitchen cutlery to slash her wrist.

“She left out what transpired for a duration of 24 hours during her stay at the hotel, and she has not confessed to committing the murder,” said a police officer.

On Friday, she was taken to hotel Sol Banyan Grande in Candolim to recreate the crime scene. Police said she signed a panchnama in front of some witnesses.

Police said that according to her call detail records, Seth did not receive or make any phone calls during her stay at the hotel.

Festive offer

“She has now started to cooperate. Earlier, she was not signing the panchnama… We are yet to ascertain exactly when the murder took place,” said the officer.

Police have found that Seth made a “last-minute” plan to come to Goa. She initially planned to stay in Palolem in South Goa’s Canacona area, but did not find a hotel in the area.

Seth had booked the hotel room from January 6 to January 10, but on January 7 night, she checked out of the hotel, claiming she had urgent work in Bengaluru. She was caught from Karnataka’s Chitradurga district while allegedly trying to flee in a cab with her son’s body stuffed in a bag.

Seth and her estranged husband Venkatraman PR married in 2010 and had a son in 2019, following which differences cropped up in their marriage. The two were separated and embroiled in divorce and custody proceedings.

Police had earlier told The Indian Express that strained relations with her husband and a custody battle may have led her to allegedly commit the crime.
