Folks who have been avoiding all the Galaxy S24 leaks to avoid spoilers need to stick to their conviction just a few days more, as Samsung’s next Unpacked launch event is less than five days away. On the other hand, for those who want as much information as quickly as possible, things are going exactly as you would expect, with more and more details about the upcoming flagship being confirmed pretty much every day.
Today is no different. Recently, images of a lot of official marketing material from Samsung have made their way to the internet, and we now have a few more, courtesy of Android Headlines. This leak is an interesting one for those looking forward to all the AI features the Galaxy S24 series will offer and reveals an exciting way AI will be put to use for photo editing.
We have heard before that the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra will sport functionality such as removing and moving objects in existing photos, and an example of that can be seen in one of the leaked images: in a photo of a BMX rider going up a ramp and into the air, AI is used to move the rider higher up in the air than they were when the photo was taken.
You won’t just be able to move objects around. You will also be able to shrink and rotate them, as Samsung showed off in an official Unpacked event promo video. However, it remains to be seen how perfect the edited photo will end up being, as generating artificial data to fill up the space where moved objects were originally placed can be a tricky thing. Everything looks perfect in promotional material, but real-life results can be hit and miss whenever AI manipulation of photos (or videos) is concerned.
Other details revealed in this leak include the camera megapixel counts and zoom capabilities. As we already know, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a 200MP main camera that will be able to take lossless 2x zoom pictures, 3x and 5x optical zoom will be handled by 10MP and 50MP telephoto lenses, and ultra-wide shots and selfies will be handled by 12MP cameras, same as the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The cameras on the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will also remain the same as the S23 lineup: 50MP main (with 2x optical quality zoom capability), 10MP 3x optical telephoto, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP front camera. There’s no confirmation on whether Samsung is using newer sensors for any of the cameras on the Galaxy S24 lineup, but we should find out once the phones are unveiled on January 17.
