The much-awaited Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has finally been launched in the Indian market. The new 650cc motorcycle is available in the price bracket of Rs 3.59 lakh to Rs 3.73 lakh. In terms of pricing, the new Shotgun 650 is positioned right between the Interceptor 650 (Rs 3.03-3.31 lakh) and the Super Meteor 650 (Rs 3.64- 3.94 lakh).

It is based on the same Steel Tubular Steel Frame that also underpins the Super Meteor 650. Not just the platform, the new Shotgun 650 is powered by the same 648cc, Parallel Twin, 4-stroke, SOHC, Air-Oil Cooled engine that produces 46.4bhp at 7250rpm and a peak torque of 52.3Nm at 5,650rpm. This engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It is claimed to offer a certified fuel efficiency of 22kmpl.
Compared to the Super Meteor 650, the new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has 35mm shorter wheelbase. It rides on 1465mm of wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 140mm. In terms of proportions, the motorcycle is 2170mm long, 820mm wide and 1105mm tall. The seat height has been increased by 55mm to 795mm. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 240kg, which is just 1kg lighter than the Cruiser sibling. It has a fuel tank of 13.8-litres capacity, which is around 2-litres less than the Super Meteor 650.
The Steel Tubular Spine Frame is suspended with Showa-sourced Big Piston USD front fork with 120mm travel and twin-shock absorber with 90mm travel at the rear. The Bobber-styled motorcycle gets 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels wrapped with 100/90 and 150/70 section tyres at the front and rear, respectively. For braking, the motorcycle has 320mm disc at the front and 300mm disc at the rear along with the dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).
While the Super Meteor 650 has lots of chrome treatment, the Shotgun 650 comes with blacked-out cycle parts including the engine cases. The motorcycle is offered in a single-seat layout; however, customer can also opt for a twin-seat model. Customers can install the rear seat or use it as a single-seat version with rear rack for luggage. The motorcycle gets LED lighting system and the Super Meteor-like instrumentation and tripper navigation pod.
