The Rolls Royce Spectre has officially landed on Indian shores, heralding a new era of luxury in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. Priced at a staggering Rs 7.5 crore (ex-showroom), the two-door electric coupe has claimed its throne as the most expensive EV offering for private buyers in India. Nestled in the pricing spectrum between the Cullinan and the Phantom, the Spectre marks Rolls Royce’s debut in the electric vehicle space in the country.
Powering the Spectre is a 102kWh battery paired with two electric motors, positioned on each axle. The result is a combined power output of 585bhp and a torque delivery of 900Nm. Charging the Spectre’s battery is a swift affair, with a 195kW charger capable of replenishing it from 10 to 80 percent in just 34 minutes. Alternatively, a 50kW DC charger can accomplish the same feat in 95 minutes. Rolls Royce claims that the Spectre offers a range of 530km on the WLTP cycle, coupled with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in a mere 4.5 seconds.
Weighing in at 2,890kg, the Spectre is built upon Rolls Royce’s all-aluminium spaceframe platform, renowned as the Architecture of Luxury. While sharing this platform with illustrious stablemates like the Ghost, Cullinan, and Phantom, the Rolls Royce Spectre distinguishes itself by claiming a 30 percent increase in stiffness compared to its counterparts. It comes with the four-wheel steering and an active suspension system.
Stepping into the Spectre’s interior is akin to entering a sanctuary of sophistication, adorned with an array of advanced features. A standout element is the new ‘Spirit’ software platform, a new digital interface integrated with connected car technology, providing comprehensive access to all vehicle functions. Notable interior features include a dashboard panel featuring an illuminated ‘Spectre’ nameplate, a starlight liner on the roof, door pads adorned with 5,500 illuminated stars, optional wood paneling for doors, redesigned seats, and an array of other luxurious details.
The Spectre’s design is a testament to Rolls Royce’s commitment to timeless elegance and aerodynamic efficiency. The electric coupe features a wide front grille and aero-tuned Spirit of Ecstasy to the split headlamp setup with ultra-slim LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), bold shoulder lines, and a sloping roofline. The 23-inch aero-tuned wheels, an aerodynamic glasshouse at the rear, and vertically positioned taillamps with jewel-like detailing add more to its luxurious aesthetics.
